The Sad Tale of a Cabled Earwarmer

As I said in my previous post, I planned to make a cabled earwarmer with The Big Cozy yarn.  After a few inches, I realized the cables stuck up to much on my head. 😦

So I had to frog it.

I started out again, but with a flatter stitch. I chose the double seed stitch and it turned out beautifully!

It is so warm and soft! I’m really excited to wear it this winter.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Future Projects

Now that I’m done with most of my Christmas presents, I can start planning out projects for myself!

I’m the kind of knitter that doesn’t usually buy yarn without knowing what I’m going to use it for. Here are some of the things I’m planning to knit soon!

First up, the Dovetail Wrap from Purl Soho. I’ve been looking for a triangle shape scarf pattern for a while and this seems to fit the bill! I’m going to make it a little smaller than in the picture.

I’m going to use Knit Picks Billow in Ash. Billow is a thick and thin 100% Pima cotton bulky weight yarn. It’s so soft! I’m excited to knit with it.

I don’t  really have a pattern for this next project, but I’m planning to make a chunky cabled earwarmer. It’s my first time knitting cables!
I’m using Knit Picks The Big Cozy in Finnley Heather. It’s such a fitting name!

Now, I know I just said I don’t usually buy yarn without knowing what I’m making with it, but this is an exception. It was on sale, so I have to buy it, right? 🙂 I got another hank of Billow, this time in Sagebrush. If you have any ideas of what I should make with it, please let me know in the comments!

I haven’t gotten yarn for this project yet, but I’m really excited to make it! It’s the Northern Lights Caplet by Purl Soho. I love the color work on the bottom, and the ribbed collar on the top! I’ll use a more inexpensive yarn than the one shown, probably the Mighty Stitch from Knit Picks.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas!

52 Weeks of Dishcloths: A Review

I love making dishcloths as a last minute gift. One of my favorite dishcloth pattern books are 52 Weeks Of Dishcloths by Knit Picks.

The book has a mixture of knit and crochet patterns.

From stripes to lace to garter, 52 Weeks of Dishcloths will have you covered for this holiday season!

Crochet Baskets

Hi everyone! I hope you all had an awesome Labor Day weekend! I sure did! Anyway, I recently made these cute little crochet baskets, inspired by Darling Be Brave! (If you haven’t checked out Megan’s blog, you definitely should, it’s awesome!)

I changed a few things about her pattern to make my baskets. I used only one strand of yarn instead of 2, and I finished the edges with slip stitches.

I love the two tones in the bigger one! And the little one is perfect for storing knick knacks, such as yarn scraps! I hope you make some too!

Fair Isle

Soooo……I learned how to fair isle! It’s actually much easier than I thought it would be. I had a bit of trouble with keeping my navy stitches tight, but I did it!

I reccomend watching Very Pink Knits’ How to Fair Isle video. It has several parts, but it’s very informative.

I Love Knit Picks!

A box of happiness came in the mail today!!image

I got Dishie in Flamingo and Navy, Comfy Worsted in Rosehip (8 balls) , and Felici in Teacup! I’m making some dishcloths and face cloths with Dishie, a blanket with Comfy, and fingerless mitts with Felici!!! I love Comfy-it’s just what the name implies, soooo comfy!! Anyway, I reccomend these and all Knit Picks yarns!

By by the way, I’m going to be out of town for a while, so there won’t be as frequent blog posts for a few weeks. Thanks!
